We have no points, and i think the only way we will get them is buy a donator pack via paypal if they still give you points.
The good thing is we dont have to keep checking are profiles all the time. It does sound like a good idea but i agree with most people, wait till the reviews are out.

Heres how I see it. Ched has to make money. Fact. No harm in that, we all have to make a living. He runs a business, and businesses have making money as their sole purpose.
So yes, he's paid some developers to make this addon for us. Thanks. Its not something I'll be using, but if you want it and like then more power to you.
Are we forced to use it? No. Are we missing out by using it? No. Are we being forced to use RL cash to get it? Not if we already have the points, and as Passie said, there are means to gain those points within the game. No biggie, just not the worlds greatest peice of software.
Where I do take issue is with the underhanded way that he has used this release as a way to distract us from the fact that we can no longer buy donator status with points. This wasnt announced, this wasnt pre-warned, just BAM... its gone. That to me was a cowardly move, and the mauling he is getting in this thread for it is due and just. At least have the courage of your convictions and tell the community that you are doing it and why. Sneaking it in while our backs are turned is underhanded, low, and unworthy of you.
I dont think there is a single player of this game who wouldnt thank you for the work you've put in (okay, so maybe there are), but I'm sure that the VAST majority will be extremely annoyed that the benefits we have held by having donator status are going to be removed. This is something we have come to expect now, and accept as a standard part of the game. By removing the ability to buy with points you have only further alienated an already fractious customer base.
I also have issues with the fact that it is a donation. Is it? Is it really? By removing the means to gain those benefits with in-game points, are you not making the DP a commodity that we are to now buy from you rather than be given as a reward for our donation? Your own admins have said that to gain benefits you may have to pay for them (Clansy, in this very thread). Well, from where I'm sat that makes the Donator Pack a purchase, and I therefore have rights under law regarding them.
Also, this would mean that you would be required to pay tax on those purchases, would it not? I really hope you have checked this move through with your lawyers, as you could be opening yourself up to a whole can of worms.
If the DP is a purchased item, then the benefits derived from DP are also my legal property. If, for example, I choose to donate those points to my faction for safekeeping, and someone removes them as part of a faction scam, that makes you legally liable for the return of my property. Items that I purchase with the money I would make from the sale of a DP would be legal property, and should I be scammed out of that property, you again would be legally liable for that.
It matters not what your policy towards scamming is, thats the law, and you can be held accountable to it. These are just examples. I'm sure the legal situation will be a whole lot more complex than that, and as I said, I would hope that you would have taken legal advice before making this move.
If I can make a (somewhat late) suggestion... instead of removing the current benefits of donator status to all but paying customers, and hence annoying your entire customer base, would it not have been better to introduce a seperate higher level of donation status with higher benefits, which would not give you a tradeable item and would ONLY be available by cash purchase? Your existing players would be happy (well, as happy as this lot can be), and would then have the option of an increased benefit level rather than having our gaming experience reduced when we have all come to regard it as standard?
You need to take more care of your customers. The state of the economy is such that $5 a month DOES make a difference to many people, and when you couple in the unrest and dissatisfaction you are creating with this "update", you have 2 things: An unhappy customer base who is unwilling to spend their hard earned cash on buying your DPs. Result: reduced player count, reduced income.
And what is it saying to the new players you are so desperately targetting? One glance at this thread would have them running for the hills. Customer care! Keep the customer happy, and not slavering for your blood, and watch your income soar.

seriously, u cant expect someone who is new to torn to buy a donator pack straight away do u? You do know how much 20 mil is worth ALOT to those who started out do u? After the point market has crashed its just a case of the richer and older is getting more advantage than those who are poor and new to this game.. So how do u expect this crime watch thing to help the new players?
I regret getting this application.. and you should be able to download it multiple times! What happens if you accidentally delete the application? HAVING TO SPEND 50 POINTS AGAIN IS NOT ON!

True you can get points like that, but seriously no one is going to do that... he didnt mean it literally like there is NO WAY top get points, its just that the way to get points is either loosing a few levels of your Nerve with pawn shop crimes or spending real life money... I personally have bought around 10-20 DP's in my time probably more, but now you Have to buy them to stay ahead i wont.... its just unfair people have to play for like a year before they can afford one ... and you call this game free.... might aswell make DP's untradeable and then the people will be less rich, that will lead to some stability.... but could just bring back the Point NPC and the stock market NPC while your at it.

pawn shop is sometimes hard to to achieve, iv done that shop before and lost some NB before so i dont really like that crime

why ? the point here is cheds making it more enticing to buy a dp ched needs the income remember he has tried a few things and failed
this one makes sense those who want it can get it those who want the game for free and to pay nothing dont have to do a thing.
i like the way he is making the changes add ons or improvements to the game that dont hurt the current players playing.
except of course the points and we had it too good there.
and remember the hackers will get this and find the holes early

stop whining, museum doesnt take your real money or make you lose levels, use that then...its so pointless to whine and whine over that small thing, if someone really wants the points he will find a way to get them, whining doesnt give you any points
