"And it's unprofessional to not use md5 encryption as it's the only secure encryption that is!"

You know nothing about security, do you?

Chedburn. Why on God's green earth would you tell someone to go shoot themselves in the face...
1. It is Highly disrespectful
2. It is very Unprofessional
3. Your the owner of a company. This being the case. You should be well aware that people are going to bash on you from time to time. 400,000 people registered not all of them will like what you say. Especially as of late.
4. It goes against your own rules of your own Game. That comment could be looked at as verbal assault directed at someone outside the game. Which is a mail ban or Fed time in your own game.

you all are brain washed if u think it was cookies that caused the game to be hacked. cause to have had the cookies stolen from who ever it was then there system would have been hacked to get the cookies. your cookies arent just randomly displayed some where on the net for ppl to download. the only way some one got the cookies is one of two ways. A the person gave it to some one or B they were hacked n forcefully taken. and even if some one did get hacked n have there cookies taken loggin into the game wouldnt have wrecked the server. that was a direct attack on the server or someone did something to the server to wreck it physicaly. so for all you ppl who think by deleteing your cookies will make the game safer im going to laugh at you. and on one more note. even if some one did hack you and stole your cookies they would have went for something more important like your bank info or your credit card info. not a messely online game thats for sure

I didnt read through the entire 100++ comments, but here are a few things that i wanna comment on

- a "hack" is a term for ethical code modification. A hacker is typically someone who wants to help in finding a solution to security problem. A "crack" is a malicious exploit meant to break something.

- MD5 may be a professional standard, but it is no way the safest of encryptions. As a matter of fact it was cracked in late 2006. I wouldnt be surprised if the solution was floating around some binary news archive

- encouraging cracking is a bad idea. Sure, it exposes security holes to be fixed. I can only turn out bad in the end though

I must repeat what I said earlier, MD5 is the best PUBLIC encrypter, there is loads of better encrypters, but I dout that chedburn would use money on them.

Another fact is that you can do small changes to the md5 encrypter that will give you an uniq version of it. Independent from all the other md5 encrypters out there.

actully would you mind if i make a sujestion if you say you welcome hackers i think it would be a great idear to get some of the staff to hack into torn city to sport security leaks so hackers will find it even harder to hack into the site

MM SuKyi, you should periodically refresh your browser cache. Thats ctrl+F5 for most common browsers.

You see, your browser periodically takes a "picture" of a website so it will load faster when you visit again. If the browser takes this snapshot when TC is going through maitenence thats what will load when you try to visit.

Resetting this cache should fix your issue.

Who ever read this please tell chedburn to change the img bbcode thing, its pretty simple for hacker to hack in if he dont filter out .php, or .asp. Hopefully no 1 can hack using cookie stealer and ip stealer, if he dont know the code for filter can always ask me

oops i forgot to add that, filter out ' (quote) and " (double quote) aswell cos if people type [img]blah blah" width="200000px" height="200000px"['img], it will create a huge img, then it will make this lag

1. There is no such thing as 'best'.

2. You're right about changing the encyption method. That always works.

3. This wasn't the problem in the first place.

The latest crack was supposedly orchestrated using a cookie redirection method.

well firstly if u guys understand wot a cookie is, u should no tht cookies always store when ever u go on a site, even tho TC dont use cookies for saving password IE will save em anyway, so he can still steal cookies, but the easiest way to prevent hacker is to filter out .php at the end of the link. cos not just cookies tht can be steal also session ID, which hacker can use tht for login to some other users.
