I'm sorry ched, I'm not totally happy with the "compensation" we've been given.
I had lost a mansion, two donator packs, 31 days of HARD HARD training (Stats back, but I lost like 15 mill trying to just get 6 mill for DPs)...
Then all of a sudden, I had a dog that had unlocked training THE DAY YOU FREAKIN CRASHEd
There goes my perfect combo. Whatever man, 1mill for me? No way man, I was level 11 BEFORE the crash, maybe if you kept all of the records in a database, like, say, RUNESCAPE?!?!?! MAybe you wouldn't lose track of LEVELS!!!
And yes, you can actually track the levels each user obtains, in Runescape it's not only visible, you can see PAST records because of saves.
It's actually a complex system, maybe try to read their code and ask them fro the backups, something to learn from...
Well I guess I got something.
To sum it up: Thanks man, you just gave me a great lesson: Never donate to TC.

funny we didn't get donator packs, just days credited, so no 50 points... The DP I lost had points that came with it, that's the only thing I lost, so I have nothing really to complain about, the 5 mil pretty much covers what I lost

The choices are simple, nobody put a gun to your head and told you to donate with real cash, and for the record I have bought 2 $$$$ DP and I will again in the future. You have no idea how expensive it is to run a game such as this one.
Ched did what he thought was fair, like it or not but we have to live with it and move on or leave.

Ched, thank you for the compensation for the loss. I believe that in most cases, ppl did lose more than what was gained, however TC is just a game and as it has already been said.. you have two choices... you can stay or you can leave. Honestly if you aren't happy with the game the only one putting yourself through the torture of continuing to play is yourself.

But they got what they want so it's easy for them to step on a high horse and brown nose you. Just because they played longer they get more money. Thats a load of BS ched. I think the big thing that has everyone pissed off is you said that you would give 3 mil per level and 50 points.
Where I understand the the reson you chose to not do this, I think that you need to look at those who donate to the game and take care of them, they are the only people here that you are truly accountable to.
i lost 2 educations... working stats.... 5 million in my bank... 3 million cash... all my champion dogs which r worth millions.. 5 levels... i lost 10 nerve from my nerve bar.. about 150 busts..
but even though the compensation is not enough to cover all my losses.. im happy because too much compensation would have resulted in the game falling out of equilibrium...
Ched keeps mentioning how much the merits are worth... if you go to the points building, I see that if you want to BUY one merit, it costs 500 points. That's all fine and well, but i'd love to SELL my merits for 500 points... obviously, this would totally crash the points market of course.
I remember, it was a while ago, but you could sell your merits for $250,000 per level per merit. So, I'm level 28, If I 'sold' one merit, I could get 7million for it--which is quite respectable.
I went and looked at the merit menu and noticed that is GONE. Granted I haven't sold merits in a long time, why/when did TC remove that functionality??
There's a good and bad side to compensation like this. For this specific one, let's go through them. Cause we ALL have a complaint, not all of us wish to express it, but we all can see the good side of it too, if you look hard enough.
Bad
x amount of money per level(s) doesn't make up for the amount someone may have lost. I got 7 mil from compensation, which is 27mil less than I had before the crash and set back.
Now, with the set back and loss of money, some of us are stuck in houses that we were planning on moving out of. Myself, a shack. Sure I can get a mansion now, but with my original 34 million, I could have had something better + stuff for my newly started faction.
Some people lost donator packs, which Chedburn said were able to be gotten back. With proof of purchase, I'm assuming. Which means, if you got your DP from someone else, they're the ones with proof of purchase, and can (if I'm correct) get them back themselves, not you. One day DP don't make up for more than that lost. (NOT MY COMPLAINT, just one of many)

WE GOT COMPENSATION!
We didn't necessarily have to be given some at all. But for the sake of the game, and the players to keep playing (some quit, with the thought of compensation) we got some.
We got merits. All of us, 5. New users, this will help them greatly. You don't get them too often, especially for new users. So use them, you can gain stats (10 x level) which will be close to the E lost in the 4 day shut down. You can increase your crime succession, stealth, etc.
EVERYONE got a DP, without paying. Which, idk now a days, but last I checked, those were 1million+ themselves. So, all of the new users got some money and a DP to start with, even if they weren't effected by the crash.
Everyone, just continue playing. It will still be known that yes, a lot of us lost a lot, but we still got something.

I'll give you the tip numbnuts - higher level players would have lost a _lot_ more that you did (at least 3-5 times the cash they got in return in most cases), so stop being a crybaby and do everybody a favour by choosing one of the following options:
A) Be a sook and quit the game because you don't give a shit about the game enough to not be hung up on getting something you never could have gotten on your own (the level x $3,000,000 compo mainly).
B) Stick around and keep playing because you actually like the game itself enough to get over what you've lost...
This is not only directed at you but at all of the low level players who are crying over the same damned thing...
For the record if you actually spent a bit of time reading the forums you would have known that it wasn't long at all before the $3,000,000 per level suggestion for compo was scrapped (once Ched realised that he would be pumping 3 times the amount of cash that was lost back into the game).
If you're a kid (which is what all the whiners sound like) then grow up and realise that you're not the center of the universe.
If you're not then the message is the same - grow up.
After reading all the shit in the forums I kinda wish Ched would just say "screw it" and shut down TC for a while and watch everybody (including me) crap their pants to teach us a lesson...
I know I'd be sorely tempted to do it if it were me... ;P
No complaints here. The economy won't completely be screwed up now, and it seems I've got by 150 energy bar back. Now just ensure it doesn't happen again, aye?
