From all the things I've seen suggested:
Temporary return of crime ticks - a good idea - helps people find their feet again after losing some crime exp and then getting stuck in a vicious circle of failing more crimes that they could do before and losing yet more exp.
Donator days - actually costs Ched something without screwing the game over.
Temporarily making crimes and busting easier - again helps people recover some of what they've lost and helps the more active players more than the less active.
Points - would of course affect the market drastically but this would only be temporary, so that could be considered.
But for the good of the game, do not give out any money. Especially not this much.

erad, I'm just as p1ssed off as you, I was level 5 with 100 points, a ranch and shedloads of cash.
I wasted 2 weeks of my life building up my stats and now people are saying I shouldn't get any compensation because I'm under a level 5. Errrr, I'm only under level 5 because some dozey twat didn't check their backups.
I'm loosing patience with this game. I sold 5 points last night to try and raise some cash (I couldn't even afford a computer course FFS) and low and behold I didn't get any money. I sign in today to see $554 in my account, 3 DP still missing and no money for the points I sold last night. AAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGGGGG
And where the hell is Da_killer for some easy money?????

Well Ched, I won't sit here and complain about all that was lost. But I think that the 3M per level you suggested is a good idea. I know that my hubby and I, as well as our friends have lost a lot, everyone has.
I am glad to see that you do realize things were lost, and some things that we can't get back. I do think we should be compensated and having straight compensation across the board seems fair to me.
I know some ppl will complain that they lost more than what they are getting, but would you rather get nothing instead? If admins could work out exactly what would be needed to give everyone compensation for exactly what was lost, they would just return what was lost...
And ppl stop complaining. And about all this money in the system...most of the money was already in the system, just now it's not. Once it is, it might just be a little more evenly spread lol.

lmao this is nice, but it will be like when germany printed loads of money during the war, the $'s here will lose value! Obviously not in the tc shops or anything, but people who sell things for say $100,000 will want $10,000,000 instead!!

so we get 3 million x our level that would be crazy and 50 points!! it would be great there is only the fact that everyone wouldn't be strugling in the game and it would be kinda pointless but do it anyway

I like the idea of compensation, but in future please keep more back-ups so we don't have this issue again.. I had recently gotten to the top in the law job, and had switched into the military, so that kind of sucks. Not to mention I had joined a gang and become co-leader of it. 
Never mind on the gang thing.. just realized that I got all that back.

I just don't understand some people complaining about little things they lost! I lost my castle!!! i don't care about my exp or level or my crimes or anything else, but my castle had cost me 135 mil and it is all gone! So people with losts of 15 mil or less, come on!! Life in TC sucks. I feel somebody mugged me for 135 mil...

I think merits are a much better gift than money, as they won't be so harmful. but people who have been here and earned a lot of them will feel somewhat betrayed. I understand this is a bad situation Ched, but dumping money is not the answer.

I was only a level 4, but had bought a lot of donator packs, mini gun/body guard and a ranch to name but a few....... and only been a member for about 20 days, so lost the lot including many £ of TC donations which i'll maybe get back sometime, so I now have no home, no stats, no money and no items, so you guys who lost a month think yourselves lucky, I doubt $3mill will cover what I spent.............

fine but I had the palace, i lost about 40 million, took months of grinding in Africa...there is no way to replace the about of times I clicked. thanks 4 effort though n every1 should cut the admins some slack. If backups failed it's not Ched's fault...but i suggest redundancy redundancy redundancy, raid raid raid:@

one more thing lol, i think this game is getting way too unfair with people being stupid levels up to other players, e.g most players compaired to me... and it just gets boring having my faction exstorted by bigger factions.. so i think everyone should get the same lump sum no matter what they lost... 30+ level players will be getting hurrendus amounts of money!

Thanks for the compesation although it could bring small disaster to the economy of TC in short term but all will be better after a couples of month. Believe me..
But i really hope this wont be happen again in future as exactly same as many TC population do hope it wont be happen again...

It doesnt matter what we lost, we will lose even bigger when the economy turns to trash. who will trade stocks, or sell drugs? How about new players after this is all over? how the heck will they ever be able to play? And some of you people's greed is blinding you and you will be responsible for ruining everything that was fun about TC to begin with.

well i do back up my data before that crash but still i just want my lv back. my lv b4 crash was 16 with work stats aproximitly 7000 int 3000 endurance and 2000 manual 20 points 3 merits 1.5 million of money. 3 mill per lv good enough but i would rather have a DP abour 4month 3meris and 3 mill per lv that would be great.

yeah during 1929 i think (i do history on nazi germany) my school teacher actually has a billion dollar bill of the currency that was used then but it was all becuase of the stupid government pinting money that has no value is one thing that should never happen

im sorry but 3mill and 50 points per lvl is nt that gd since i lost loads and loads more then what i would get back from that and i have lost 5 lvl and 3 ranks so im nt happy but its beta than nothing i gess
