Ive been reading through the thread and i cant see why people cant just wait. Im sure everybody is looking forward to the compensation and it will arrive when it arrives otherwise keep playing the game.

look everyone had it bad with the downtime and everyone is waiting just like all of you complaining.. they said they would do it so sooner or later they'll do it so stay off their backs so they can have more time to work rather than spend more time reading the forums for people being outraged and upset.. so please just give time and everything will work itself out hopefully i love you all please give me hugs lol

To all the folks brown nosing and bashing people who are anxious to be compensated. I am a man of my word and when i give it i fulfill it. I realize we have a few more hours before the promise date is expired. So it is a bit premature to complain. But i understand the frustration completely. In my opinion every single person that is whinning can just go and stuff it. I know first hand how difficult it is to run a web site let alone an online game and it can be very hard at times to get things done or make sure that your clientel is happy. For one thing it was your choice to join TC not anybody else, it's not like Ched put a gun to your head and said, "Play on TC or I'll kill you!" So for all you whinny babies out there, just shut up and go play some other game because no body likes a sore loser. So far as those who have donated to TC, I have too and just like anything sometimes you win some and sometimes you loose some. Take a moment and count up all the endless dollars you have spent on junk you never use and you can see how much money you waste on things you don't need. So if you donated $5, $10, or even $20 to the game just consider that a charity donation to a good cause because it cost a lot of money to run a server.
Hey Ched, I appreciate all that you have done for those of us who play TC and as far as the compinsation I believe you should not give it out if all these people are going to continue to be a bunch of babies. If they want to act like a two year old running around crapping in thier diper then let them. Great job with TC and keep up all the hard work. |

I do tech support for a Data Center /ISP. I work on servers like the one that TC is hosted on.
"RAID controller failure" is a nice way of saying "a Technician accidentally spilled his coffee on your server, and we have no idea where we put your other Hard Drive".
Back Up failures are also fun. Sometimes the machines handling the back ups are off for weeks at a time, and no one knows about it until one pissed off customer calls in asking for them.
I am sure Ched was on the phone every hour with the ISP hosting TC, demanding the server back online ASAP.
on a side note, none of my Halloween items are usable any more... will that get fixed? |
well ..... i used to work on one ... and we once had a short circuit fire, which roasted almost everything in the centre. nothing was recoverable. this wasnt the case here certainly.
btw, a failed raid cont, sounds like just stopped working, just 'like' a failed HDD where mbr is damaged (or cluster 0 is bad).and these professionals who checked the structure couldnt recover from that kind of failure? .. what kind of professionals are they anyway ?
ok ... lets just take these were partially burned, and 90% data could be recovered. still .... all u lost are vitals ... all accessories were actually retained.
when u make a high school project, or something out of your hobby, this kind of failure (~90% recoverable structure, only 128 tables backedup ... more than one month old user side backup) is alright. but when u take real money from ppl (DPs etc) u must had to know what u are doing. u had certain responsibilites.
what u do now? making a compensation just to shut ppls mouth and flamings, pull some at your side and who will speak for your support and disoblige your responsibilites when u play with ppl's real money spent. this is called professionalism .... u must have written a book on ethics then, which will contradict the very common idea of professionalism.

I don't know if you know this or not. But Chedburn can't be attacked without you getting owned for trying.
Ontop of that, if the admins got sick of us rebelling, they could easily put an end to it.
So good thinking on your part.
And for the person who asked recently about just starting and getting compensation. Read Chedburns post, yes, you will get compensation.

they not getting 3 mill for starting........... Ched's new thread called markets reopen....Ched states that the high levels will get around 20 million...
so thats not so much for high levels...

Also were looking at the compensation numbers and finding a decent way to make it fair without causing too much inflation. The problem being that only a few players lost a substantial amount of cash. In fact only around 27 Billion was lost in total. So giving out trillions of dollars is not going to fix the problem but we will find a suitable amount to make everyone happy. We will certainly be giving out 31 days donatorship to everyone and most likely at least 3 merits out each. The money will end up to be most likely around 20m to the high levelled players and something suitable for the lower levels to cover any big losses.
so i guess it shouldnt screw the game too much
