I like this update, I was confused as to why their were some scamming rules and not others. This makes scamming less confusing and should have been implemented earlier. If you don't like someone, don't give them access.

really not hard!
thats the way i played from day one and it is simple. Only people I would ever give access is family or friends who live near me, if they ever stole I simply would go meet them in person and force them to give it back, other then that just don't give access! |
So that mean TORN is a online game for your real life friends and family to trust? lol

Just a newer player's 2 cents here. Quote what I say if you want, but I doubt I'll come back to reply to any response to this post.
In my opinion any money that goes in a faction vault should be used for faction purposes. If you don't want your money to go to faction purposes, or be touched by faction members who have access to that vault then it is up to you to find some other place for it. Company vault = company money. Your vault = your money. With that said I'll move on to something else.
I have played other games with stuff like "factions" and this sort of thing always raises some sort of issue. Just plain ignoring it isn't really the best way to go around it, and sure having someone you trust would be nice. The problem is truly devious people will work hard to gain your trust over a period of time just so they can backstab you later on.
One way you can deal with this issue is have any items/money from Factions tagged as belonging to that Faction. The leader/co-leader should have a set of tick-off boxes where it has a list of things for them to choose what faction money can and cannot be spent on, what sort of members can and can't be sent money/items. Something like that.

ched i got 1 thing to say to u.......LAZY f**k!!!!!!! u could have delt with things but instead u chose the easy way around it as per usual..............now all ur going to get is loads of 1 man factions with ppl putting there money in them, what a stupid idea. dont expect much more from u tho, uve shown time and time agian what ur all about

Staff members just get slacker and slacker... First you stopped enforcing regular scamming rules, now factions, what is there left for you to review? Next you will completely remove any sort of player reporting system. What kind of game has no scamming rules? What do staff get paid for...?
Ok, so I just had to say that. I don't really care myself since I am the only one that runs my faction anyways.

companies and factions are 2 different things.. in company you don`t need managers/co-owners to help you with leading/running your company but in faction it`s useful and I know, you should always trust people on that posts but sometimes even best friends betray you.. even if you don`t want to deal with people who steal from faction, there was at least a rule that made leaders feel more secure.
I see what`s the problem, but then there should be made a small update where you can disallow co.leader to access vault same as with medical armoury. That would make it ok but otherwise it`s stupid imho..

So that father/mother/aunty/uncle/sister/brother/cousin/real life friends that playing this game should stay in one faction because they could be 100% trusted person and transfer money/points/items through the faction without get fed?

Thank you sea, two, Panthirez for your posts. I'd love to have the ability of +1 on each comment... I totally agree with the faction owners that this change will severly affect trust in factions and that's really bad. Not a good move, ched. There are several good suggestions in this long thread on how to improve faction vault issues - maybe a banking update would solve a few things too (e.g. pay stocks directly from your bank account, remove the 2bil limit). I'd love to see these changes coming instead of making faction theft legal.
Valesh: I don't know you and maybe I don't know enough details yet but I hope for you, that a competent staff member will resolve this mess according to the rules of this game (I agree with you, that the responsible people should be fedded and that this is/was faction theft).

So, out of a dozen staffers specifically given the task of "Ensuring Player Security/Well Being", the well being of somebody's obvious hard-earned money and efforts in a game for years takes a back seat.
This reminds me of another ill-conceived idea: mandatory minimum sentences in the USA. No matter what - every case is treated with paperwork through litigation. There are times and places where common sense and decency are (at the very least) tantamount to contractual agreements and red tape.
Yes, there have been multiple instances, but the latest display of (in)action speaks volumes about the neglect to the longevity of the game. Nowadays, staff seem to be delegated to monitor, censor, and sweep up rather than deal with the task at hand. One mistake or shortcoming can ruin 2000+ days of work from somebody who finds a loophole.
I've never spoken with those involved in this case, so I'm not simply picking and choosing who to side with on controversial issues. I just calls 'em like i sees 'em.

I can see a removal of Managers status as well pretty soon...
Unless you know someone in real life....what's the point in putting someone in charge if there is no trust..

There are loopholes so fix them? You honestly can't code a quick fix that allows everyone to use the bank and only allows you to take your current balance and not give anyone else money?
Only exception would be factions leader/co.
You have 44+ staff and I guarantee you could bring on many many more to fix this problem. We have billions but no where to put the money now.

Most factions are worth more than a lot of companies and have members cash stored in them - in some cases all they have. This is a bad move, sorry Ched.

chedburn, WTF! someone who put a lot of time and dedication to the game is VERY upset about this and all you can come up with is this rule change to patch things up? valesh SHOULD be receiving back his money, end of story

I only have about 4 billion in my faction bank and in no way would I ever allow anyone to have access to it, Hence why I don't have a co-leader. Obviously you were not to smart nor did youknow this person well enough to trust them to have access. Kinda dumb to give somone access to 90 billion!!!! I mean looka t real life, most people are not thiefs but if they found 10 million cash in a suitcase how many would turn it in......its hard to resist and any normal logical thinking person understands this

Actually, not even leader/co should have access to other people's money. Keep the points part of the faction bank as it is currently, so that members can still safely donate money to the faction for faction use by the leader/co

You can still lose all your money storing it in a company (via hackers)... So it is still not safe... You'd be better off buying yourself a new Faction.

In some previous threads I saw some people posting points of arguement that it's the Leader's fault for granting access which resulted in the incident.
For this exact reason there was a rule about Faction Thefts.
Show me where a faction theft has happened where a person didn't had access.
