From reading a lot of the replies to this - I think that this is wrong. It sounds like Ched has taken the coward/easy way out. Don't just say that it is now legal - come up with a better way of dealing with it as well. A number of suggestions have been made that would help with preventing this.

Rated -

Poor update. Those that stole Valesh's cash should be fedded according to the rules.

Aside from the Gym update that was altered almost a year ago, this is the worst update I have seen in my few years playing.

If you are going to make faction theft legal, at least think it through a little better and make the faction donation/banking process more up to date. It's not as if factions only store money in their faction banks to keep it safe. It does cost money to war and run a faction properly and sometimes more than just one or two players need access to it.

Who cares? It's a game.

you kidding right?

some of us spend real cash for it.. consider it a paid service

The real cash you spend is a donation, you're not paying for the service.

that's why i said "consider it"... you spend cash in exchange of some advantages ..how do you call that ?:P

Legally, it's called a donation.

Legally, Ched doesn't owe you a thing.:P

it's not like i'm trying to convince you that Ched owe us services... ofc he doesn't owe use anything, other else for all those money that he gets from DP's he would have to pay taxes ^^ .. but that's another discussion ...

for those $5 "donation" you get some fair advantages other than a non donator has..simple as that ..

Amen to that. Everyone knows that though.

Unless ched wants his new faction update and work to go to waste I'd imagine they'll have to imply a new banking update as well. A few simple codes should more than solve the problem. 2 already stated in this thread which would appear to work well to me and simple to do.

Unless he wants a load of 1 person factions and warring still staled as before if not worse, as well as everyone knowing they need to be able to give some banking access to at the least several members in the faction to run a proper chain, he'd have to make some banking updates and rid this rediculous "update."

I seriously don't see it standing for very long myself.

Holy hell. kyle8048's outta fed.

I don't think so. I think they're implying as a donator, the owner of the game should provide a fairer rightful service to keep things respectably fair with the ability to keep yourself from being scammed. Not say anything goes after you've donated money on terms that things are a certain way, only to find out later that the owner of the game say ahahahahaha piss on you all I scammed you and now everyone else in the game can scam you anyway they please and there's not anything you can do about it!

If you catch my drift.

Question:

If the Co-Leader puts weapons in the amoury and tells the Leader not to take them. that the leader can only lend them. then the leader takes the weapons that he is not supposed to take. is that stealing from the faction? and can he be put in fed for that?

As of right now he's supposed to be fedded. However with the new rule change in like 4 days, nope he has the right to steal the co leaders weapons and there's nothing the co leader can do about it anymore.

It continues to boggle my mind that in a game about crime, domination, violence, and deception that people are surprised when someone isn't ethical. Really? That shocks you? Time to stop being surprised.

But if the game is just about crime why do we have a jail ?

It's more about crime and punishment ( if you get caught ) .
So , anything deemed illegal should be punished .

Just out of curiousity are you a home owner?

Lemme ask you this. If you rightfully paid for your home and owned it, and lived there for 40 years, and the government told you you have to move they'll give you 250k for your home and you said no...

Then the government said Oh really? Ok we'll just take it and make you move and not give you shit for your house. Then did it and left you on the street with no money and no where to go.

How would you feel about that? You would be ok with that right? Cause we live in a world of "crime, domination, violence, and deception" right?

Yeah wtf ever.

This way is more fair for sure. People were winning player to player bets only to lose their winnings because of the loophole. In effect they were victims of an unwinnable bet because they had no way to know that the other was betting stolen faction funds. Of course if the victim lost then they just lost.

Good move Ched.

i think only the leader should be allowed to access the faction bank by default, but the leader can choose people that have access to the bank from the members of the faction, that way if there's people in the faction that the leader knows in real life or whatever, they can allow them to have access to the faction bank if they trust them and want them to have access to it.

faction recruiting mail me if interested.

I cant get over the fact that everyone thinks that staff needs to protect them from getting duped by someone. If you are dumb enough to trust a stranger and/or give someone you are unsure of access to your money/points/weapons then you deserve whats coming.

These are things you consider before making your possessions available to others. Use your head and don't act like a child expecting daddy Ched to stop you from getting bullied. I like this update. Torn's turning into a more dangerous place, which is not SO terrible.

And if the rules change, and something is no longer illegal, you cease to punish it and life moves on. Except people aren't moving on. People are complaining about something that hasn't affected them and they have zero control over.

By D3ADLY [282188]

The government does do stuff like that (imminent domain), and does have the power to do it. No, it isn't fair, no, I wouldn't be okay with it, and no, I wouldn't have the power to do anything about it. Would life go on? Yeah, it would. I wouldn't just suddenly drop dead. Would I be happy about it? No. Of course not. Whoever is in control has the power to make decisions that I don't like, that's life.

If they offered me market value, I'd take market value. I wouldn't tell them to piss off and then end up with nothing. And that's the issue. There were alternatives, and people chose poorly.

I haven't asked anyone to be happy about it, only to realise that they don't have any control whether they like it or not, and aren't going to "win" by throwing a fit.

People want their rewards to be protected, but don't want to accept that they had responsibility in protecting them. Apparently that's the responsibility of the admins -- admins who didn't put their money in a place where other users could access it. Invest in points, items, property, the bank, etc and you won't have people steal it. You give someone else access to your cash, and are surprised when they take off with it, explain how you have 0% responsibility in that? If you've worked hard to get where you are, and want to keep yourself at that level, consider the risk/rewards: the rewards are you make marginally more money via interest and trade margins when you're online to make deals, the risk is that someone can steal everything you've ever earned. That is a stupid investment and people who make that investment are stupid. So what do you want me to say?

ok, so if Justicer is in fed, then its obvious that what he did was illegal, so all the comments saying its Valesh's fault are already proved wrong, and since what Justicer did was illegal, and when you are put in federal jail it says that money could be taken from you, so then it would seem to be easy for the staff to find the money cause its in his faction thats named 'justicers bank' so they could get it back from him, tlk to him while he's in fed, find out where the other money is, and if he doesnt say then you can keep in fed for the rest of TC time (which it seems will probably end soon)

Iunno bout you but thats how id do it if this game was coded in c++ but thats all I can think of... to me seems like a great idea to wait for approval of cash given out by the leader. that shall solve all the faction theft problems.
