Staff will be removing any affiliation with faction scamming. They will not step forward in any way. If a co-leader steals the faction bank, staff will not jail anyone and will not credit anyone.
This will start on the 12th of June. Please make sure you fully trust everyone who has access to your faction bank. We're giving you this week to prepare.
Please note, currently anyone who steals from a faction will receive a federal jail sentence, until the 12th of June.
These steps have been put in to action for many reasons. Mainly:
We do not take any action against company scamming, why factions?
The huge difficulty staff go through to resolve these issues.
The instant by-passing of warnings.
The inability to determine who owns the money.
The loopholes around this rule.
The deterrents should be player-made. If someone steals from you, you make them pay yourself.

Game Bug Abuse
Failing to report a fluke/loophole in the game and taking advantage of it is forbidden.
You say people take advantage of a loophole... as we obviously witnessed today... then all parties involved should be put in fed as per the rules of Torn.

He means that regardless of crime you get a warning first, faction theft has always bypassed that rule.
Also I agree no one should be able to touch more than they put in without special permission. There have already been a few suggestions for it in the past.

How can we have a deterrent when morphine cost 30k each, the reasoning is weak and the best i can gather is staff are merely figureheads that get staff collectibles that that sell for ingame cash. Since all scamming is legal why have staff at all?? New players get more help from other players and fan sites then they ever get from staff. Maybe you should incorporate how real money donator's can be scammed on the dp page and the new player help guide!;)

Agreed. This is a crap update and loses a lot of moral of factions and being on a team (Faction)
So now, all the factions will have to withdraw bank status from all it's members just to keep everyone's money safe. That's a total crap idea.
I'd go with what the others stated above. Make a few simple easy fixes.

Why? Because faction theft IS illegal (at least till the 12th now).

You could make that someone who donaded money for safe-keeping couldn't withdraw more than he donated to a faction (except leader and co-leader). |
Make this happen. Its an easy fix, and will avoid a lot players losing all their savings. Don't just roll over for the scammers and let them have their way.
Worst update I have seen in my time playing tc. |

this update was without thought. ched just reacted because admin cried for so long about having to deal with faction thefts. now because of their cries ched just made it all legal so he didnt have to hear the admin cry any longer.
not a well thought out plan IMO and i agree with you d3adly it does lose moral

reminds me of the day you let the bear take blackmail and extortion off the policy to allow the trend that killed factions originally. granted enforcing morals through policy is stupid, it is more then possible to have a system do such for you, learn from your mistakes ched keep policy for now, figure out a good system safeguard or remove faction banks entirely. both do the game better then what you are calling on now and both make you look better.

Its planned, didn't randomly happen to attack 23 seconds later. They were in it together and I am sure not only them. Not to mention revives , refills, FHC's, vico, if anything they are in it together and both knew well where the money come from and how it got there.

Whether removing the rule is right or wrong.....valesh should get his cash back and these scumbags should be in fed.....the rules as they stood were broken and the fact staff jumped in on the muggings after being asked for help is outrageous.
I hope ched rectifies this situation to try and keep some respect.......as already stated elsewhere....it would have been intriguing to see how this rule was interpreted if it was a different faction.

Agreed... this was obviously set up to take advantage of said loophole, which if I'm not mistaken is against the rules.
So the person who sent the money should be in fed, the attacker who set it up should be in fed, and the reviver who set it up should be in fed as he is in coohoots with the attacker.
