We’ve changed this system to hugely simplify it and remove the bugs.
You will be charged all of the upkeep and staff costs if you are living in the property (whether you own it or not).
If you are married, your spouse owns the property and is living in it with you, you will not be charged. Your spouse will pay.
If you are renting a property (and living in it), you will pay all upkeep and staff costs. The landlord will not pay any fees for you.
Basically as a general rule, if you live in a property, you pay the upkeep for it. Much simpler than before.

Wrong, if you own the property and your not living in it, IE: renting it out, you don't pay.

No it's not.
As far as I can tell, if you rent a property then you pay upkeep on that property.
However, if, say, I own the mansion I live in (I do), then my spouse will not pay upkeep, even though he is living in my mansion.

No it's not.

This helps players who rent properties to people.
This will effect the rental market greatly me thinks.

You cannot fire any staff until ALL OF THEM have been employed for at least a day!
even if i have to pay them off i dont mind, but its a pain in the ____ (neck)

Sounds good to me although I'm confused..
My spouse used to own a PI which I lived in with them, but I dont remember ever paying to live there now I own one, and I dont recall ever hearing that my spouse had to pay for it..
Am I reading the OP wrong or something?
