u should be able to use merits to buy points since they are more rare. and not the other way around.

Then points would be worthless as the market would be flooded...

Didnt bother to realy read the whole thing, but i do hope if you do decide to give merits back then give them all, not just the ones pre new incremental updates.

There are alot of good persons that only increased life because they had loads already, and assuming they will be reset to what they should with no merits they might not want to go the same path now.

Also i do hope that you can split the life gained from merits from the life gained from medical and not just reset us to what we should have for our level...

Edit: Typos

And if you do give them all back also dont forget the ones that were bought with points...

giving back the crime ones is a very good idea considering that the new incremental awards have a crime ability section.

I spent all my merits on the old life system, will that mean they are completely refunded or have i lost out?

initially when the new merit gains came into place i had just spent all my merits so if they could be returned as well as the life benefit merits i would be very happy to 'reset' the merits.. this way everyone is working on the same system which should lead to an improved and fairer spread of merit gain

I reckon getting these merits back would be awesome
Especially for us losers that thought it was a good idea to swap 10 for a Yak sword

I think reset the entire thing, give all merits back, including those that have been gained and used from Honors and used using the Incremental System.

Let everyone start a fresh.

I made my choices on the current system by what I did on the old, so if you give them back, that would indeed effect and render my latest choices stupid and worthless.

Edit- Like many others.
So if you give back the old, to make it better for all, give back the new along with it.

I don't understand this 'fair' argument. Life isn't fair...why should a text-based internet game be?
I don't see how returning merits makes it a level playing field for everyone... I still won't be able to beat Bodybagger or Mikk or stonfjer or many others. I don't think its fair that so many noobs own PIs at 300 days because they took advantage of the stock market and I didn't, but I don't whine and complain that Ched should 'fix' things.... if you made a choice to save merits, why should my choice to spend them take backseat to your choice?

Just play the GAME and stop crying like spoiled brats.... if you really hate it, then quit...

Then why did you not have them returned in the 7 day period that Ched gave everyone when he changed the interest rate....there was a annoucement and loads of GD forum discussions so it was not like it was not advertised?

You do have one or two older benefits... time and experience...
Staying with the health issue, you can get the medical job to get health... you have higher job stats..meaning you'll be able to start as brain surgeon, you have a higher level so you'll get more job points. And because of those perks... over time you will always have more health then new players

Well they saved their merits as strategy and it failed! Too f-ing bad life's not fair sometimes and, btw, there is still a life upgrade which works perfectly fine.

If the current one works "perfectly fine" then you having nothing to worry about in the event of your life being reset.

A new class of demigods has been created by the new life merit system consisting of those that used the 50x version and those who didn't or won't ever be able to use it. Even though some were using the system to increase their life in a wise manner they will be made second class citizens forever just because of timing and the change.

As the game progresses this difference will be compounded as the older players utilize the incremental life system. The gap will widen on hit points as they get get alot more hit points with every time they upgrade teir level then those who didn't use it or even have the choice to use it.

Ched sees this now and is trying to rectify a unintended situation by the new merit system change. To make the game better and fairer for all. Now and in the future..

It seems to me a return of the 50X per level choice or a Hit point reset and merit return are his only two fair choices. Give the man a break he is just trying to make a better game.

If I would have used medicalpoints from day 1 till now, they wouldnt be able to catch up either.

So because I started earlier, and had diffrent options, they should be removed?

No, but thats not the issue... new players that start today can also start using medical points from day 1... thats a seniority bonus...
a player that starts today cannot and never will be able to invest 200 merits in life 50*lvl (unless the system gets changed again offcourse)

I am against.

I spend a huge lot of merits on increasing my HP. Originally I should have 101250 HP, and without the current incremental upgrade I had 301100. If those merits would get returned I would get a max HP of 164926.

I choose to skip crits, nerve, awareness and whatnot to get my life up like this, and now it should be removed?

Doesnt seem all that fair, in my humble opinion.

I agree with him...this is a game and whatever decesion/choice you make now will have an effect on you later down the line (good or bad)

Those who upgraded their life without incremental upgrade will have an advantage but those who didnt too bad, this surely proven you should choose you choices wisely

They cant use the old stockmarket or bankinterest either. So by that logic all money older players made from the old bank and stockmarket should be removed too?

its not like the stockmarket and bank interest are the only ways of earning money... there are plenty of people in this game who are less then half my age but have twice as much money...

You didnt get my point, did you?

When the inflation went out of control, Ched reduced the interest from the bank, and reset the merits people used on banking. But they didnt get the money removed that they made from it.

Lifepoints is pretty much the same deal.
