By rapid_riser [262223] I had 65 merits saved up to use on life. I feel like I have been robbed of 100k life. Now I will never even break 200k life. See below for the why and not to mention those that already upgraded life to 300k with merits can now continue to get life up to 450k (10/10 on new upgrades even assuming the suckiest v1 system below).
The new system v1 [adding percentage]:
(50 merits need to get to 10/10) = 0.05 (5%) * 10 (fully upgraded) * 77583 (my life) + 77583 (my life) = 116,375 life points (gained 38,792 life)
OR
The new system v2 [multiplying percentage]:
(50 merits need to get to 10/10) = 1.05 (assuming accumlative effect) ^ 10 (fully upgraded) * 77583 (my life) = 126,375 life points (gained 48,792 life)
VS
The good old system = 50 (merits for comparison) x 56 (my level) x 50 (multiplier) + 77583 (my life) = 217,583 life points (gained 140,000 life)
Dont go suggesting for me to save merits up after making a change like this. If you want something in this game it seems you take it as soon as you x well can because you wont be able to get it later.
And those that say life is worthless in the current attck system is talking rot. I have the attack logs and seen the damage I am taken down by. A few hunded k or less damage almost every time:
agree with this. there are players with over 500k life using the life points from the old system. If they also use the current 10 upgrades....
Atleast with the previous upgrades like how stats work, i could start training other stats, so it isn't completely impossible. But now there is no way i can get more than 200k life whereas some of the older players which have leveled up to a level they are comfortable with to use their merits for life, can have over 700k life. So even if they had crappy stats, if i attacked them, either the turns would run out or it would pass the quarter hour mark and they would gain 150k or so more life. wth?
I think this upgrade is moving Torn into more of an rpg direction, which I love. I do however understand the concerns with the life system at the moment.
Really now...it looks like you completely got rid of the non-incremental ones, but did NOT return the merits spent on those! What the heck is that all about, man? I had a bunch of them spent on increased crime success rate. However, you have a new crime success rate and I see no improvements carried over to it. Where the hell did our freaking merits go?!

Are you going to reset our old merits that were used in the old system?
I guess with that being said, are you going to reset everyone's life?
if anything it will be for spent incremental merits only just like last time when banking got changed
I am sure Ched is considering this or has at least thought about it.... i just wish he would tell us his thoughts so far.
Is there a good chance this will happen, no chance at all, or what.
I been around a while mainly as a guy just watching the game evolve, but i think this calls for a merit reset more than the bank interest situation did.
ALL THIS SAID, i do think the new options are a great addition as long as the old and new get a even shot at using them.
Stop complaining.
With new system you will get extra health points EVERYTIME you will level up.
It may looks bad at the moment, but in the long run you will be happy with this change.
old merit system was better. i just dont under stand whey when u renew it you have to add extra merit. eg. i f i use merit now for nb, i can only upgarde it gain if i have 2 merit

1. this is not real life.
2. a lot of people will be missing a lot of merits that newer people will get in the end giving them an advantage.
3. grow up? that statement makes no sense. grown ups complain too.
4. if we wouldn't have already been reimbursed for merit changes before i would agree with you. but if they did it for the bank, then why no do it for a change that is was bigger than the bank change?

its alright but aye we need an option for mobiles to turn images off for one two your merit upgrades are interesting but would be nice to have 1 a lil more info and 2 a description of weapons that fall into the mastery section for younger players ect
I agree about the sexual images. They are just plain inappropriate as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure the men probably love them, but as a female, I don't. I don't want them showing on my profile any more than I want images of naked men on it. Leave the sexual images as a personal choice for profile pictures.....not as awards.
But there is one issue I have with the new images in that a lot of them are racy and as such can cause some issues with playing on campus or at work. If there is no way to turn the images off, especially the blatantly sexual ones, it will drastically reduce when and how I am able to play.
Is there a way to modify this? Have a "I'm At School!" option or "I'm at Work" option that turns off image content?
I DONT like this update because it says I have put NO points into the crime rate boost but I have definitely "wasted" at least 3 merits in it. If you don't honor that than its like its 3 of my awards count for nothing.
So lame, I knew it originally did nothing thats why people reported no increase in crime success rate.
